Malaysia is home to over 800 orchid species, many of which are epiphytes thriving in the humid rainforests. Notable for their diversity, they hold cultural significance and face threats from habitat destruction and illegal collecting, making conservation efforts vital. With a variety of colors, shapes, and specialized adaptations, Malaysian orchids are a remarkable part of the country's biodiversity.
The Malaysian rainforest, one of the most biodiverse regions globally, hosts around 15,000 flowering plant species. Many plants are endemic and have medicinal uses. The rainforest's structure, from the emergent layer to the forest floor, supports diverse life forms and plays a crucial role in carbon sequestration.

In the early 1960s, Mr. Ooi Leng Sun’s passion for orchids transformed into a family legacy – Ooi Leng Sun Orchids Nursery & Laboratory.
Now in its 3rd Generation, we proudly stand as a global symbol of dedication to the promotion and conservation of Malaysian and S. E. Asian Orchid species
Our roots go deep in the soil of conservation, exclusively trading in artificially propagated plants. A testament to our commitment, we are one of only two nurseries in Malaysia registered with CITES, allowing us to propagate and sell selected specimens of Appendix – I orchid species.
At Ooi Leng Sun Orchids, we don’t just cultivate orchids; we cultivate a legacy of innovation and commitment to a greener, more sustainable future. Our journey is not just about orchids; it’s about leaving a lasting impact on the world of conservation.
