Bulbophyllum vaginatum

This miniature-sized epiphyte is found in Thailand, Malaysia, Java, and Borneo, thriving in mangrove, lowland, and swamp forests at elevations up to 600 meters. It has yellow, ovoid pseudobulbs spaced 2 inches apart, each bearing a single, oblong, leathery leaf with a bilobed tip. Blooming in late winter and again in summer or fall, it produces a slender, 12 cm inflorescence with sheaths and a cluster of 12 to 15 filamentous white flowers resembling fireworks. It grows in hot to warm conditions.
