This miniature to small, hot-growing epiphyte is found in the lowlands of Southeast Asia, including Malaysia, Sumatra, Borneo, and Singapore, often on mangroves. It has garlic-shaped, irregularly four- to five-sided pseudobulbs with a single, oblanceolate leaf. Blooming in the fall, it produces a slender, reddish, 11 to 14 cm (4.4 to 5.6 inches) long inflorescence with 8 to 10 flowers arranged in an umbel beneath the leaf, thriving in light shade and high humidity.
