Bulbophyllum dearei

This small, unifoliate epiphyte and occasional lithophyte is found in Borneo, Peninsular Malaysia, and the Philippines at elevations of 700 to 1200 meters. It has 5 cm (2-inch) egg-shaped, bristled pseudobulbs and a single elliptic-oblong leaf. Blooming in summer and fall, it produces a 17 cm (6 5/8-inch) long, single-flowered inflorescence with a long-lasting, slightly fragrant flower held near the leaf’s end.
