This small to medium-sized epiphyte or terrestrial orchid is found in Thailand, Malaysia, Borneo, and Sumatra at elevations of 900 to 2500 meters. It grows in mossy forests with globose pseudobulbs and tough, lanceolate-oblong leaves that narrow into a petiolate base. Blooming from spring to fall, it produces a straight, 30 cm long inflorescence with many flowers arranged in all directions. The flowers are often fragrant, making it a distinctive species in its habitat.
