This miniature epiphyte is found in Borneo, Java, Sumatra, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam, and Laos, growing in dry lowland forests and savanna-like woodlands at elevations of 300 to 1670 meters. It has a branching rhizome with close-set, slightly flattened pseudobulbs that develop longitudinal furrows. The plant bears two soft, leathery, deciduous leaves that fall before blooming in the fall. Its erect, 25 cm inflorescence ends in a dense, pendulous flower cluster with fragrant blooms, each subtended by small, narrow, papery bracts.
