Bulbophyllum lilacinum

This medium-sized epiphyte is found in northern Peninsular Malaysia and Thailand, growing in warm to cool conditions. It has smooth, narrowly ovoid, slightly four-angled pseudobulbs spaced 5 inches apart, each with a single, fleshy, oblong leaf that is blunt-tipped and narrows into a short petiole. Blooming in fall, it produces a 5 to 10 cm inflorescence enclosed in large sheaths, with a drooping, densely flowered 15 cm rachis. The flowers do not open widely.
