Bulbophyllum picturatum

This small epiphytic orchid is found in Yunnan, Assam, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam at elevations of 900 to 1550 meters. It grows in bright light on deciduous trees or the ground below them. The plant has dark green, angular pseudobulbs with a single, linear-oblong leaf. In spring, it blooms on a slender, 12 to 25 cm long basal inflorescence arising from an older pseudobulb, producing 5 to 10 fragrant, hairy flowers in an umbel-like cluster.
