This dwarf-sized, warm-growing epiphyte is found in Bahia, Brazil, in dry coastal areas with seabreezes but little rain. It grows on rough-barked trees and has slender, jointed, furrowed pseudobulbs with two thick, fleshy, red-spotted leaves. Blooming in summer and fall, it produces one to two large, waxy, long-lasting flowers on a short terminal inflorescence. The flowers are fragrant with a spicy scent, making them a striking feature despite the plant’s small size.
