This small to medium-sized epiphyte is found in Sabah and Kalimantan, Borneo, at elevations of 800–3000 meters, growing in elfin and secondary forests on trunks and moss-covered roots. It has swollen to slender, longitudinally sulcate pseudobulbs with a single, stiff, coriaceous, ovate-lanceolate leaf that narrows into a petiolate base. Blooming in spring, it produces a racemose inflorescence up to 27 cm long, emerging from new growth, and carrying 4 to 12 flowers. It thrives in warm to cold conditions.
