Dendrobium aphyllum

This large epiphytic and occasional lithophytic orchid is found across Asia and Australia at elevations of 150–1800m in evergreen and montane forests. It has slender, pendulous stems with deciduous, narrow leaves. Blooming mainly in winter and spring, it produces short inflorescences from older, leafless canes, each with 1–3 fragrant, short-lived flowers strongly scented of violets. Often called D. pierardii or D. cucullatum, it thrives in hot to cool conditions and features delicate pink flowers.
