This large epiphytic orchid is found on Java’s south-facing coastal hills at elevations up to 800m. It grows in hot to warm conditions with horizontal stems having numerous ovate-lanceolate leaves that twist to face one direction. Blooming in winter and summer, it produces short, axillary inflorescences, 3–4 cm long, with 3–6 flowers emerging from older leafless and leafy stems. This species thrives in mixed hill forests, favoring humid environments.
