Dendrobium christyanum

This miniature to small epiphytic orchid grows in highland primary cloud forests of northern Vietnam, northern Thailand, and southwestern China at 800–1600 meters. It thrives in warm to cool conditions, forming clustered, short pseudobulbs with black-haired sheaths. Each pseudobulb carries two lanceolate, bilobed leaves with black hairs underneath. Blooming in late spring and summer, it produces a single fragrant flower on a very short inflorescence emerging from the apex or sides of old and new pseudobulbs.
