This pendulous epiphyte grows in the eastern Himalayas, Assam, Nepal, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, and Malaysia at 150 to 1000 meters, high up on tall trees in evergreen and montane forests over rivercourses. It has clavate or fusiform, four-angled stems with 2 to 4 coriaceous, ovate-lanceolate leaves near the apex. Blooming in spring, it produces long, 8-inch pendent, densely flowered, cylindrical racemes from the nodes near the apex of both leafed and leafless canes.
