This small to medium-sized epiphyte is found in Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Sumatra, Java, Borneo, and the Molucca Islands at elevations of 400 to 1,600 meters in dry lowland forests and savanna-like woodlands. It has curved, unbranched, leafy stems with many lanceolate, overlapping leaves. Blooming from summer to winter, it produces a very short inflorescence with a single, tiny, fan-shaped flower emerging from the bases of the imbricate leaves. It thrives in hot to cool conditions.
