Dendrobium leonis

This miniature to small epiphyte or occasional lithophyte grows in Thailand, Malaysia, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Sumatra, and Borneo at elevations up to 1100 meters. It has clustered, leafy, flattened stems covered by alternating, triangular, overlapping, dull green leaves. Blooming in spring, summer, and fall, it produces short, axillary, single-flowered inflorescences at the apex of imbricating canes. The flowers are fleshy, fragrant with a vanilla scent, and typically appear in small numbers, usually one or two per bloom cycle.
