This small to medium-sized, hot to warm-growing epiphyte is found in Myanmar, Peninsular Thailand, Malaysia, and Sabah Borneo at elevations of 250 to 600 meters. It grows high in trees with weak, grooved, cylindrical stems carrying 10 thin, lanceolate-elliptic, deciduous leaves. Blooming in spring, it produces 6 to 12 flowers on a 2.5 to 5 cm long inflorescence from the middle to upper part of leafless canes. The flowers vary in appearance, showing spots, stripes, or intermediate patterns.
