This miniature, warm-growing epiphyte is found in northwestern Vietnam at elevations of 800 to 1000 meters in dry broadleaf evergreen forests. It has flat, strongly compressed pseudobulbs with 4 to 12 internodes, enveloped by scarious sheaths, and carries 3 to 8 oblong, broadly acute leaves. Blooming in spring, it produces 1 to 4 short, 1 to 3 flowered green inflorescences from leafless pseudobulbs, with ovate floral bracts and large, thick, waxy, glossy flowers that open wide.
