Dimorphorchis lowii

This large, hot to warm-growing epiphyte is found in Borneo, especially Sarawak, in hill and lower montane forests from sea level to 1800 meters. It grows on tall trees, often overhanging water, with long, pendant stems carrying bilobed leaves. Blooming in fall and early winter, its pendant inflorescence can reach 12 feet, producing two distinct flower types. The basal flowers are yellow with purple spots, while the apical flowers have maroon blotches, both featuring hairy outer surfaces and fragrant blooms.
