This small orchid grows in Peninsular Malaysia, Borneo, Sumatra, Java, Thailand, and the Philippines at elevations of 50 to 1800 meters. It thrives as a hot to cool-growing epiphyte near streams or as a lithophyte at higher altitudes. The plant has an orange, creeping rhizome with spaced ovoid to conical pseudobulbs, each carrying a single lanceolate leaf. Blooming from spring to fall, it produces a rigid, arching inflorescence with many wide-open, sometimes fragrant flowers.
