This miniature, hot to warm growing epiphyte is found in Malaysia, Borneo, and Sumatra in swamp forests on mature mangrove trees at elevations up to 1000 meters. It has slender, cylindrical pseudobulbs spaced 1.6 to 3.1 inches apart, ringed with stiff bristles, and carries a single, gradually tapered leaf with a short petiole. Blooming from winter through summer, it produces a 6 cm long, single-flowered, fragrant inflorescence that emerges from the rhizome or pseudobulb base.
