Bulbophyllum helanae

This small, warm to cold-growing epiphyte or lithophyte is found in Yunnan, the western Himalayas, Nepal, Sikkim, Myanmar, and Thailand at elevations of 800–2700 meters. It has long-ovoid pseudobulbs spaced 1.2–2.4 inches apart, each with a single, erect, coriaceous oblong leaf narrowing into a petiolate base. Blooming in late spring and summer, it produces a short, basal, 2–3 inch inflorescence with tubular sheaths and lanceolate bracts, carrying 5–9 foul-smelling flowers.
