This small epiphytic or occasionally terrestrial orchid is found in Perak (Malaysia), Sabah, Sarawak, Sumatra, and the Philippines at elevations of 800 to 2300 meters. It grows in swampy, lowland, and montane forests in humus and moss cushions. The plant has ovoid, somewhat flattened pseudobulbs with a single, thick, ovate to elliptic green leaf. Blooming in summer in Borneo, it produces a basal, 2 to 3-inch (5 to 7.5 cm) long inflorescence with ovate floral bracts and a slightly fragrant single flower.
