This small epiphytic orchid is found in Thailand, Malaysia, and Borneo at elevations of 900 to 2200 meters in lower montane forests. It has conical pseudobulbs spaced 2.4 to 7 inches (6 to 17.5 cm) apart along a woody rhizome, with stiff basal hairs. Each pseudobulb carries a single, stiff, elliptic leaf. Blooming in summer, it produces a single flower on a 2-inch (5 cm) long erect inflorescence emerging from the rhizome.
