Bulbophyllum ovalifolium

This miniature orchid is found in the Chinese Himalayas, Thailand, Malaysia, Sumatra, Java, Borneo, Lesser Sunda Islands, and Sulawesi, growing in montane forests at 900 to 2500 meters. It thrives as a cold to warm-growing epiphyte with a creeping, mat-forming rhizome that produces closely set, chain-like, ovoid to globose, slightly flattened pseudobulbs. Each pseudobulb has a single, thinly leathery, elliptic leaf. Blooming from spring to fall, it produces a short, 3.75 to 6 cm inflorescence with a single flower held above the leaf.
