Bulbophyllum planibulbe

This orchid section resembles Macrocaulia but features larger plants with long, wiry, non-brittle creeping rhizomes. It has racemose inflorescences with resupinate flowers, where the pedicel’s basal node aligns with the floral bract attachment. The flowers have four pollinia. A key field characteristic is its prostrate pseudobulbs on an elongated, wiry rhizome. This section includes two species found in Thailand, Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, and Borneo, typically growing in their native habitats with these distinctive traits.
