This small-sized epiphytic orchid from Sumatra grows in warm to cool conditions. It has closely set, conic-ovoid pseudobulbs, each bearing a single, erect, thick, oblong-elliptic leaf with a sessile base. Blooming in late fall, it produces an erect, 6 to 8 cm long inflorescence, including a 4.5 cm peduncle. The flowers, arranged in an apical corymb, are accompanied by large, linear-lanceolate, acuminate floral bracts, making this species distinctive in its natural habitat.
