This section differs from Section Ephippium by having erose to denticulate petal margins, while the median sepal margins range from entire to erose. The resupinate flowers grow in a subumbellate raceme, with 1 to 4 flowers per inflorescence. The dorsal sepal has 3 to 17 veins, and the lateral sepals, which are 3 to 16 times longer, are often fused along both margins. The petals have 1 to 3 veins, with 12 to 32 textured appendages at the tip. The column face is furrowed, and there are 4 pollinia.
