Bulbophyllum refractum

This bifoliate epiphyte is found in the eastern Himalayas, India, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam, Java, and Sumatra at elevations from sea level to 1420 meters in dry lowland forests and savanna-like woodlands. It has conic pseudobulbs with two apical, lanceolate, deciduous leaves. Blooming in summer, it produces a long, pendant, up to 40 cm inflorescence with a lax raceme of up to 10 foul-smelling flowers. This species thrives in warm to cool conditions and prefers semi-deciduous environments.
