Bulbophyllum singaporeanum

This small to medium-sized, hot-growing epiphyte is found in the lowlands of Singapore, Johor, and Borneo at elevations up to 500 meters. It has a thick, sheath-covered rhizome with 4″ spacing between slightly flattened, cylindrical pseudobulbs, each bearing a single, narrow, linear leaf. Blooming in the fall, it produces a very short, basal inflorescence with several to many wide-open flowers that emit a strong, foul odor. The species thrives in warm, humid environments with ample air circulation.
