This almost leafless, miniature epiphyte or lithophyte is found in the western and eastern Himalayas, Nepal, Bhutan, Sikkim, and Thailand at elevations of 1600–1700 meters. It thrives in cool conditions with long, twisted, tufted roots. Blooming in summer, it produces an erect, pubescent, flexuous racemose inflorescence.
