Coelogyne brachyptera

This medium-sized, hot to cool-growing epiphyte is found in Southeast Asia at elevations of 200 to 1500 meters in montane deciduous forests. It has pale green, narrowly conical, four-angled pseudobulbs spaced 2.5 cm apart, each with two suberect, elliptic-lanceolate, plicate leaves. Blooming in spring, it produces an erect to arching 10 to 18 cm racemose inflorescence with 5 to 7 simultaneously opening, fragrant flowers. The inflorescence arises from a mature pseudobulb, completing its blooming cycle.
