This large, hot-growing orchid is found in Malaysia, Sumatra, Borneo, and the Philippines, growing as an epiphyte on trees near rivers or as a terrestrial plant. It has well-spaced, strongly compressed pseudobulbs with two apical, plicate, elliptic-lanceolate leaves. Blooming in late spring to summer, it produces a 15 to 30 cm long, arching to pendant inflorescence with up to 15 fragrant but short-lived flowers. The flowers, which open simultaneously, have a scent resembling honey or cinnamon.
