Coelogyne septemcostata

This orchid is found in Thailand, Malaysia, Sumatra, and Borneo, growing in moist, shady lowland forests, often on trees overhanging rivers at elevations of 50 to 2300 meters. It is a medium-sized epiphyte with clustered, ovoid, wrinkled pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical, plicate, elliptic leaf. Blooming on a newly developing pseudobulb, it produces a 12.5 cm long, slender, single-flowered inflorescence enclosed by imbricate bracts. The flowers open successively, remain partially closed, and face downward.
