This orchid is found in Malaysia, Borneo, and Sumatra, growing in lowland rainforests and riverine forests at elevations from sea level to 1400 meters. It is a large, hot to cool growing epiphyte or occasional terrestrial plant with close-set, oblong-ovoid, compressed pseudobulbs. It has two apical, lanceolate, plicate leaves with wavy margins. Blooming in late spring to early summer, it produces a 24 cm long, pendulous, racemose inflorescence with up to 10 simultaneously opening flowers and persistent floral bracts.
