This orchid is found across Southeast Asia, including Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Sumatra, growing as a medium-sized, hot to cool epiphyte or lithophyte at elevations of 100 to 1600 meters. It has closely set, ovoid, grooved pseudobulbs with two apical, plicate leaves. Blooming in the fall, it produces a slender, 25 cm long, erect inflorescence with 4 to 8 simultaneously opening flowers. The flowers are fragrant, though opinions vary on whether the scent is pleasant or not.
