Coelogyne xyrekes

This orchid is found in Thailand, Peninsular Malaysia, and Sumatra at elevations of 700 to 1900 meters in montane forests. It is a medium-sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte with clustered, ribbed, grooved, dark green pseudobulbs and a single, apical, glossy, broadly lanceolate leaf. Blooming in late winter, it produces a 10 to 20 cm long, limp inflorescence with up to five successively opening flowers. The flowers vary in color and may be sweetly scented, emerging from new growth.
