This small, warm to cool growing epiphyte is found in the Chinese Himalayas, Assam, India, Nepal, Andaman Islands, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, and Vietnam at 700 to 1800 meters in open forests. It has 15 to 30 cm long, pendant, ridged pseudobulbs with purple stripes and six deciduous, leathery leaves.
