This small to medium-sized epiphyte is found in Thailand, Malaysia, Borneo, and Sumatra at elevations of 1300 to 1600 meters in lower montane forests. It grows in cool conditions with clustered canes that are slender at the base, round in the middle, and elongated at the apex. The plant carries 4 to 8 widely spaced, slender, channeled leaves. Blooming from the middle to the apex of the cane, it produces short-lived, non-resupinate flowers that do not open well.
