This large to giant-sized, hot to warm growing epiphyte is found in New Guinea and Morotai Island in the Moluccas at lower elevations. It has erect, clustered stems with alternate, ovate-elliptic leaves. Blooming on a lateral, erect to suberect inflorescence reaching 14 inches (35 cm) long, it produces 8 to 12 flowers.
