This miniature, hot-growing epiphyte is found in Thailand and Peninsular Malaysia at around 100 meters in open forests. It has crowded, thick, knobby canes covered by leaf sheaths, with 4 to 9 lanceolate-ovate, deciduous leaves near the apex. Blooming in fall and early winter, it produces short, 0.8 cm inflorescences with 1 to 4 flowers that arise opposite the leaves. The flowers do not fully open, adding to its unique blooming characteristics.
